Profile of Akin Alamu, Head Consultant at HighRank Education

 

Akin Alamu who trained at St. Andrew’s College of Education and University of Ibadan is an education sector development and management specialist with considerable multi-sectoral experience spanning project/strategy planning and management; school planting and management; curriculum development and evaluation; teacher engagement/development and evaluation of educational programmes. He has been in active practice in education and professional training related business for over three decades running. He consults for governments, international organisations and high profile schools within and outside Nigeria.

Akin has had direct contact with over ten thousand teachers and school leaders in the last ten years, exposing them to the 21st Century education practices.

He managed a special education project for Olashore International School between 2000 and 2003 empowering the public school teachers in a rural community in Osun state with 21st Century teaching skills. He has replicated this feat in many government and low cost schools in Lagos, Ondo, Niger, Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers and Osun states

Until April 2008, Akin was the Education UK Partnership Manager of the British Council, Nigeria. At the British Council, he led on partnership and research activities; developing, managing and evaluating Education UK events including series of exhibitions and marketing. He successfully managed the Education UK brand before taking voluntary early retirement to start his own education consultancy company.

• Negotiation, influence and advocacy (The Early Years’ Education Foundation) 

• Written and oral communication (Author of 5 books including 21st Century Teaching: Manual for Teachers. Spoke at many conferences in and outside Nigeria) 

• Training needs identification, curriculum/learning contents development, designing and conducting bespoke training courses (Redeemer University Ede, Kar Academy, Cotonou; Holy Child College, Ikoyi; Ataoja Govt. High School, Osogbo; The WestPrime Model School, Ibadan)
